She Waited Years to Book a Boudoir Session. Here's What Finally Changed Her Mind.

Sometimes it isn't a life-changing event that pushes you to book a boudoir session.

Sometimes...

It's one sentence.

One tiny moment where you realize you've spent years waiting for a future version of yourself to deserve something you've wanted all along.

That's exactly what happened to one of my clients.

After years of thinking about it and wondering if she should finally take the leap, she received my welcome email.

One line stuck with her.

"What are you waiting for?"

And apparently, that was all the little nudge she needed. ๐Ÿ˜‚

As she put it:

"It made me think, Iโ€™m not getting any younger so do it now!"

And thank God she did.

She Lost the Weight... But Still Didn't Love Her Body

This part hit me hard.

Because it illustrates something I hear from so many women considering boudoir photography.

We convince ourselves confidence is waiting on the other side of a goal.

Lose the weight.

Tone the arms.

Flatten the stomach.

Then we'll finally feel beautiful.

Except...

When I asked how she felt about her body before her session, she told me:

"I didnโ€™t like it at all and Iโ€™ve even lost weight, I still wasnโ€™t happy or cared for my body"

Read that again.

The scale had changed.

Her body had changed.

But the relationship she had with herself hadn't necessarily caught up.

And isn't that something?

We can spend so much time working toward a goal, convinced it's going to unlock some magical new level of self-love.

Then we get there and realize our inner critic apparently didn't get the memo.

Rude, honestly. ๐Ÿ™„

Then Came the Lingerie...

Like so many women preparing for their first boudoir session, she was worried about how she'd look in the outfits.

When I asked what made her most nervous, she said:

"Honestly being in the outfits, I thought I wouldnโ€™t look good in them but I felt so comfortable and they looked so good"

And I LOVE that for her.

Because here's the thing.

The lingerie doesn't create confidence.

It simply gives confidence somewhere to land.

Sometimes stepping into something unfamiliar gives you an opportunity to see yourself a little differently.

And babe, you don't have to figure all this out alone.

At my boudoir studio in Oak Grove, Missouri, you'll have access to my client closet, and I guide you through your poses from start to finish.

I even demonstrate them myself.

Because expecting you to magically know what to do with your hands would be pretty rude of me. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And if you're currently wondering what the heck you're supposed to wear to a boudoir session, I've got you covered there, too.

It Didn't Feel Like a Photoshoot

One of my favorite answers from her questionnaire was about her favorite part of the day.

It wasn't the photos.

It wasn't the outfits.

It was...

"Honestly the chit chatting and โ€œhanging outโ€ during the session"

LITERALLY SAME. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Because while we're absolutely there to create some gorgeous photographs, I want you to enjoy the experience, too.

We're laughing.

We're swapping stories.

We're talking about life, getting to know each other, and probably wandering down a few completely random conversational rabbit holes.

And somewhere between all those conversations...

We're also creating photographs of you looking pretty damn incredible.

When I asked how she felt during her session, she said:

"Amazing, completely comfortable, like you were my best friend"

THAT.

That's the kind of atmosphere I want women to walk into.

You don't have to arrive as some super-confident version of yourself who knows exactly what she's doing.

You can be nervous.

You can have questions.

You can laugh when I demonstrate a pose.

You can come as you are.

And yes, you can be sexy and have a ridiculously good time.

Personally, I'm a big fan of that combination. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Confidence Shift

There's something I absolutely love about showing clients a little peek at what we're creating during their boudoir session.

Because they're standing there wondering whether they're doing any of it right.

Meanwhile, I'm looking at the back of my camera thinking...

GIRL. LOOK AT YOU. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

For this babe, getting to see some of her photographs during the shoot made a real difference.

When I asked whether there was a moment when something shifted for her, she told me:

"When you started showing me the pictures during the shoot it really built up my confidence!"

And when I asked what she thought when she first saw her images?

Well...

"Holy shit, thats me!? I look that good, but how?"

I mean...

BEST. REACTION. EVER. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And here's what I love about that response.

She already looked like herself.

She didn't suddenly become a different person.

She was getting an opportunity to see herself from a perspective she wasn't used to.

One that wasn't necessarily focused on every little thing she wished she could change.

And judging by her reaction?

She was pretty damn impressed with the woman looking back at her.

As she should be.

The Part That Matters Most

When I asked how her session affected the way she sees herself now, she shared something that really stayed with me.

"I look at myself in a lighter light, in a better way, not as hard on myself for the things Iโ€™ve done to get here and Iโ€™m still going"

That.

Right there.

That's such a meaningful part of her story.

Not that she suddenly became perfect.

Not that every insecurity disappeared.

But that she described seeing herself with a little more kindness.

And I think there's something beautiful about that.

Because you don't have to reach some imaginary finish line before you're allowed to appreciate yourself.

You don't have to earn permission to enjoy your own body.

You can be a work in progress and still be worthy of celebrating.

And sometimes, just giving yourself the opportunity to do something a little bold, a little vulnerable, and a whole lot of fun is pretty damn special.

And Yes, She Already Wants to Do It Again

"I already want to do it again, I couldโ€™ve stayed there all day. I had so much fun!!"

EXCUSE ME WHILE I CRY HAPPY TEARS. ๐Ÿฅน

Because this woman had wanted to book a boudoir session for years.

She worried about how she'd look in the outfits.

She wasn't feeling particularly great about her body.

And after finally taking the leap?

She wanted to do the whole damn thing again.

Sometimes we make experiences feel so much bigger and scarier in our heads than they turn out to be.

And sometimes?

We discover that the thing we've been putting off might actually be our newest obsession.

What Are You Waiting For?

Want to know my favorite part of this whole story?

When I asked what she'd tell someone who had been following my page for months but hadn't booked yet, she said:

"BOOK IT NOW, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR"

FULL. CIRCLE. MOMENT. ๐Ÿ‘

The very question that inspired her to finally book became the question she wanted to ask other women.

And I freaking love that.

Because maybe you've been following House of Divulged for a while.

Watching the behind-the-scenes videos.

Saving photographs.

Thinking about what you'd wear.

Wondering whether you'd actually feel comfortable in front of a camera.

Maybe you've been telling yourself...

After I lose twenty pounds.

After work slows down.

After the kids get older.

After life gets a little less chaotic.

After...

Friend.

Life keeps moving.

Birthdays keep coming.

Bodies keep changing.

And the list of reasons to wait has a funny way of getting longer.

You don't have to make a decision today.

But you can absolutely stop treating your own enjoyment like something that belongs at the very bottom of the priority list.

Because the woman you are right now deserves to have some fun, too.
