She Was Told Her Boudoir Photos Were "Trashy." So She Booked Another Session Anyway.
Can we talk about the absolute AUDACITY of some people for a minute?
Because I have a story for you.
A woman books a boudoir session.
She gets dressed up, steps in front of the camera, and creates photographs of herself that she's excited about.
And then someone decides to tell her those photographs are "trashy."
Excuse me?
SIR.
WHO ASKED YOU?! 🙄
This is the story of a woman who heard someone else's opinion about her boudoir photographs and eventually decided that opinion didn't get to make her decisions.
And I am SO here for it.
When Someone Else Has Something to Say About Your Body
Years before coming to House of Divulged, this client had boudoir photographs taken for her then-husband.
She loved the photographs. She thought they were tastefully done and beautiful.
His reaction?
Apparently, “no one needed to see [her] dressed like that” except him.
And he called the photographs trashy.
Well, THAT'S a lovely response to someone sharing something personal with you. 🙄
Listen, everybody is entitled to an opinion.
But when it comes to your body, your photographs, and the things that make you happy?
You get an opinion, too.
And hers was about to get a whole lot louder.
This Time, She Did It FOR HERSELF
Fast-forward a few years.
Her marriage had ended, she'd lost 75 pounds, and she was feeling “better than I had in YEARS.”
I LOVE THAT.
She wasn't walking into my studio hoping I'd magically convince her she was beautiful.
She already felt good about herself.
She just wanted to celebrate it.
And after everything she'd been through, she decided to give boudoir another go.
Only this time?
“I did it again FOR ME.”
HELL. YES. 👏
Not for a husband.
Not to prove anything to somebody who once criticized her.
For HER.
And honestly? That's a pretty damn good reason to do something fun.
From Meeting-New-People Nerves to "DAMNNNNNNN"
Now, you might think someone who already feels confident would walk into a boudoir session without a single nerve.
NOPE. 😂
Meeting new people still made her nervous.
Which is completely understandable when you're about to hang out in your underwear with a photographer you've never met.
But once we got going?
She felt “so comfortable and confident!”
And then came the moment that might be my favorite part of this whole story.
The first booty shot.
Because apparently, all it took was one look for her to go:
“First booty pic. I was like ‘damnnnnnnn’”
BAHAHAHA!
BABE. 😂🍑
Listen, I live for moments like that.
That little pause when someone sees a photograph on the back of my camera and suddenly has a whole new appreciation for her own ass?
Absolutely priceless.
And while we were busy making some pretty damn fabulous photographs, she also got something we could all use more of.
Time.
Time to laugh, get dressed up, and enjoy “just having time to focus on me.”
Because sometimes, having a few hours where the whole experience is about YOU is pretty freaking wonderful.
And When She Saw Her Finished Photographs?
“Amazed.”
One word, and I think it says plenty.
But what I love even more is what stayed with her afterward.
“I am more confident and a bit less critical of myself.”
I think that's beautiful.
Because we don't have to pretend one photoshoot magically fixes every insecurity we've ever had.
Sometimes the change is simply catching yourself being a little kinder to the woman in the mirror.
And sometimes that woman is looking back at you thinking, DAMNNNNNNN. 😏
Your Photographs. Your Experience. Your Choice.
Here's what I hope you take away from her story.
You don't need somebody else's permission to enjoy being photographed.
You don't have to wait until everyone approves of your choices.
And you certainly don't have to justify wanting to spend a day doing something that makes you happy.
Maybe you've been thinking about boudoir photography for years.
Maybe you've already had a session and you're itching to do another.
Maybe you're celebrating a new chapter, or maybe you just think it'd be a hell of a lot of fun.
Those are all perfectly good reasons.
And if you're sitting there wondering whether you should finally book?
Take it from a woman who's been there, done that, and decided to do it again anyway.
“DO IT!!!”
She doesn't regret taking the opportunity to do something for herself.
And I couldn't agree more, babe.

A woman once had her boudoir photographs called "trashy" by her husband. Years later, after a divorce and a whole new chapter of life, she decided to do another session. This time, FOR HERSELF. And her reaction to that first booty photo? Absolutely priceless. 😂
