There are 3 Types of Boudoir Clients. The first type of client has no idea how they want their boudoir experience to look they just know they are excited [and nervous] to come in and have the experience! The second type of client is just as excited about the creative planning process as they are the experience itself. The last client is somewhere in between. Technically there’s a 4th type of client. This is their 5th time in the studio and at this point we are just mixing sets up to get them something they haven’t done before.

I LOVED THIS LIVE SET ON THE STAIRCASE I DID WITH LISA LAST FALL USING THE WIDOW ROBE FROM THE VAULT CLIENT CLOSET. I HAVE LOST TRACK THE NUMBER OF TIMES I HAVE HAD THE HONOR TO PHOTOGRAPH LISA AT THIS POINT - BUT EVERY TIME WE WORK TOGETHER WE CREATE BEAUTIFUL IMAGES.

IT’S WILD TO ME THAT AFTER ALL OF THESE YEARS WE ARE STILL ABLE TO MIX THINGS UP TO GIVE HER A TOTALLY DIFFERENT LOOK THAN HER PREVIOUS SESSIONS. I turn off my inner critic by acknowledging it and actively fighting against it. REGULARLY. I’m not perfect and I don’t love every part of myself - and THAT’S OK! When I feel down about one area, I acknowledge the feeling, and then don’t give it another ounce of my mental energy - usually by diversion or distraction. I may not love my boobs, but I do love my eyes, my smile, and my creative mind. So I think about that instead. Seems so simple really. And honestly, over the last 5ish years, it has gotten much easier than it started out. Practice makes perfect right?

So what should you do if you start your period before your boudoir session?!

I encourage all clients to take their monthly friend into consideration when booking a session date to avoid issues down the road. However, if you are anything like me - while my periods are light - the timing is unpredictable. She kind of does her own thing and shows up when she feels like it - kind of like that friend or relative that pops in unannounced and usually at the worse possible time.
